Office Move / Buildout
What FieldGuide Handles in Your Office Move/Buildout
Office moves and buildouts are one of those projects where ten things you've never thought about are suddenly your problem. Internet that won't be live on day one. A conference room that looks great until nobody can figure out how to start a meeting. The printer that ships to the wrong address. We've done this enough times to know where it goes sideways, and our job is to make sure it doesn't.
Here's everything we own from start to finish.
The budget
This is the big one, and it's the part most companies underestimate until they're three months in and writing checks they didn't plan for. We build the IT and infrastructure budget with you upfront, every line item, with real pricing from real vendors, not napkin math. Internet install fees, cabling, network gear, AV, security, desk setups, the stuff you'd never think to ask about. You walk into your finance conversation with numbers you can actually defend, and we flag the trade-offs so you know where to spend and where to save.
Internet
Picking the ISP, negotiating the contract, scheduling the install (which always takes longer than anyone tells you), setting up a backup connection if you want one, and testing it all before move-in day.
The network
Switches, access points, the rack in your IT closet, hardwired drops at desks, wireless coverage that actually works in the back conference room. We do a heat map before anyone moves in so we know there are no dead zones.
Low voltage cabling
All the wires running through the walls and ceilings, for network, AV, cameras, door readers, everything. We hire and manage the cabling vendor.
Conference rooms
TVs, cameras, tabletop controllers, scheduling tablets outside the door, the whole AV setup. We pick the gear, install it, integrate it with your calendar, name the rooms, and walk every single one before day one to make sure they actually work.
Physical security
Cameras, door readers, building access. We design it, source it, install it, and coordinate with the vendors.
Desks and offices
What goes on every desk: hub, monitor, laptop stand, peripherals. We standardize it so hotel desks feel the same as assigned ones, install everything, and clean up the cable mess.
Common area tech
Printers, lobby signage, dashboard TVs, guest check-in kiosks, time clocks. The stuff that's nobody's job until it breaks.
The IT closet
Rack, power, cooling, UPS, temperature monitoring. The room nobody thinks about until it's 90 degrees in there and the network is down.
Moving your existing equipment
Anything coming with you from the current space, we uninstall it, pack it with the movers, ship it, and reinstall it on the other side. You don't coordinate with the moving company on IT stuff. We do.
All the vendors
ISP, cabling, security, AV, equipment. You have one point of contact for all of it: us. You don't get five different reps emailing you for status updates.
Day one
A real human from FieldGuide is onsite. We've already swept every conference room, tested the WiFi, confirmed building access works, and written instruction sheets for hotel desks and printers. If anything is weird, we fix it before anyone notices.
Thirty days later
A short report on what worked, what didn't, what the project actually cost, and what we'd do differently. Useful for you, useful for us.
